Based Upon

I am currently sourcing artwork and am in search for something unique!

This is such a hard task because I'm not buying the art for myself, or for a client but for the 'unseen customer' so I need to ensure that the style of each piece reflects the demographic of people who shop in the store.

During my search I have stumbled across this pretty impressive company called 'Based Upon'. It is made up of a group of artists who produce large scale artworks and hand applied surfaces as well as sculptural furiture.

I am absolutely mesmerised by this piece called 'water' - a snapshot of ones observation from the air.

And how beautiful are these nature inspired surfaces...

Abbey Rd

I just had to share my Abbey Rd experience with you all...

(writing 'all you need is love' at the studio entrance)

For me, it was such a surreal experience to be at a place where so many amazing artists have colaborated and recorded.

I know we all associate Abbey Rd Studios with the Beatles, but another favourite band of mine have also recorded there...The Killers.

And here is my favourite live performance from Abbey Rd Studios...

Kurt Geiger Notting Hill

Kurt Geiger Notting Hill is almost here! Just walked past their new location on the corner of Portobello Rd and it's looking pretty amazing.

Lots of ironwork and mirrored surfaces have been chosen as the backdrop for their gorgeous range of shoes!

Love My Life

I honestly can't believe how fast the last 12 months have gone by. 'I heart thee' was one of my first big posts so it feels quite surreal to look back now and see how much has changed since Valentine's Day last year.
This time last year, I felt a great sense of heartache, sadness and uncertainty but with all of that came this desire and confidence to discover what was waiting outside the little cocoon I got stuck in for so many years.
My new found freedom allowed me to open my eyes to new and wonderful experiences that have without a doubt changed my whole perception on life and love in general.

I know Valentine's Day is reserved for your one special love but this year I want to spread my love around a little...
Firstly, I want to send some big hugs and kisses to all my family and friends back home. You have all been so supportive over the last year and I will never be able to thank you all enough xoxoxo
A very special thanks to Monica for helping me realise my true potential and encouraging me to chase my dreams. x
And finally, big cuddles for my London Crew. I would never have survived all the challenges that London threw at me without you.

Happy Valentine's Day all xx

Feathers and Light

I am focusing lots of my attention on window displays at the moment. Christmas is over and new season is officially here so it is all about getting customers into the store to see what's new for 2011.

For this window, I created a brief that showcased some new lighting as well as reintroduced the stores signature pieces to its customers.

I am very lucky to work with such beautiful products so inspirating comes naturally. For this display I played with height and texture. I couldn't have all the lights turned on for this one so I needed to create movement in other ways.
I am looking forward to putting together my 'Fun and Games' display once Valentines Day is wrapped up.

Gail's

I have to share with you my new little discovery on Portobello Road - Gail's.

This gorgeous Artisian Bakery is famous for it's handmade breads that are completely organic and baked fresh everyday.

Besides the most amazing smell as you walk into the store, I love their packaging. Such a pretty little pattern to compliment all the delicate pastries they have on offer...

And how about the interiors? I really feel that each bakery reflect its location...

This image above is of the one on Portobello road - definately designed to cater for a mix of 20-something residents on the run and all the mothers groups that congregate between 10am and 3pm everyday!

If you can't decide what to have with your coffee next time you visit Gail's, my friends and I definately recommend the cheesecake. YUM!!!
